" I am proud to say that I developed this
jewelry concept and design beginning about 1994. I experimented
with real flowers that I grew, pressed, and set them in casting resin.
Over time, I have discovered that some flowers maintain their true color
better than others, during the process of drying and pressing.
Once the flowers are encased in the casting resin, they will not fade or
otherwise deteriorate, and the resin is light weight and extremely
durable. |
I begin the process by pressing and drying the flowers.
I then paint the inside of the sterling silver bezel to provide value
contrast for the flowers. The flowers are then glued down, and
finally, the casting resin is poured into each bezel. Sterling
silver
earwires are attached securely to the jump rings, and a sterling silver
chain is available for the pendant.
Jewelry may be purchased individually, or as a matched set of pendant
and earrings.
The entire process is tedious and labor intensive, but the finished
product is truly a one-of-a-kind, unique creation that should last
indefinitely under normal care. My initials "ALA" are stamped on
the backside of the sterling silver bezel in very small letters."
